Big quest for nothing V4.0

Heron's Curse
Aaaand i died again. How? Well i was doing a Catch tour, getting good ISK but when looking on map for a returning route, surprise! the shortest route was probably heavy camped as in an hour there died 30 ships so i chose another route. The road was a bit too travelled for my taste but nothing happened until 1 jump before lowsec. In that cursed system (it was in Curse region lol) i was caught in a gate camp by 14 guys with Sabres and other nasty and scary ships. I chose to align to a planet, activated warp drive and at 1 fucking second before i could start to warp to safety, a bubble has been deployed. At least it was fast, in less than 1 second being killed and then podded (only 1 volley for the ship lol) and there went 150mil...

Gods were invoked.

The future

I have noticed that i lost a lot more Herons than any other ships so i choose a Probe for my next exploration trip. Also my corp's leader gave me an industry project for the corp so i am busy getting all the things and skills i need for all the stuff, i hope i can get some profit out of it. Speaking of industry, my rig empire is growing as they are selling pretty good for a nullsec region, i am happy so far and i look forward to extend it.

The goal

18 days in which i MUST get at least 600mil as PLEX is going higher and higher so i set up a goal for myself: get at least 2billions in 18 days. The surplus is for funding the Incursions ship that i plan to fly.

That's pretty much for today as i prefer to write more post with small updates than write a huge post but less frequently as i may forget some things. Thanks for reading me!

Big quest for nothing V3.7

Just a quick update on my exploration trips: i did another run after the last post from this series and i succefully brought like 60milions to a station in Providence. I plan to get more loot there before i haul them to hisec as i save time. Also like 10millions of those i will keep there for my manufacture jobs.

My Heron is ready to go and i will soon update this series, but after a travel through Catch, hope no many gate camps. Speaking of gate camps, i escaped a Svipul in the previous run, probably because i was too far away for his warp scramble to work (like 13 km away but i saw the icon of warp scrambler on my ship) or because he accidentally stoped it, anyway i am happy with +60mil as i will soon need to PLEX.

Manufacturing in EVE

I said in an earlier that i have started some industry jobs. Today i just finished my first batch of rigs that i look to sell in Providence and also finished a faction cruiser for one of my corp mate. Overall with the cruiser sold i made a profit of 8 millions as i start the job before the update was alive and i wait to see how fast the rigs will sell, planning to sell the second batch in northern region of Providence.

In this time i though about manufacturing in EVE and i think that it's the most non-newb-friendly career to choose. You need pretty high skills and a good starting capital if you want to actually make some profit (of course you can start as soon as you want but the profit will be almost null). At this point i was thinking about making manufacturing a bit more newb-friendly but i got the conclusion that you can't let a 1 day old character (first time in EVE) to flood markets just because they don't understand the economy yet.

As a conclusion, for me at least, manufacturing is a career very well optimised for the the game: until your skills train up you will learn more about different items and their economy so you can actually make profit by manufacturing. I may be wrong of course.

Logic gaps

Sometimes i have moments when i can't figure how a thing like 1+2, or when things makes senses in my head but practically they are just wrong. This thing happened in last post: i said that i met a guy and he read my blog, then i wrote here that i told him i can't afford an Astero but i have 350mil in wallet. You got it?

I write this post as an advance sorry if i will do this type of mistakes in future, please notice me.

Big quest for nothing V3.5

If something can go wrong IT WILL go wrong
I was wandering around Providence - Catch for a day, i can't complain too much as i got around 100-130mil from 5 sites but on my way back i made a mistake: didn't stop looking for sites when the local was spiking. And with 5 jumps from Providence, i was destroyed in a relic site by a Loki (he warped cloacked in site, then instalock, i had no chance). We spoke a bit after and that was all.

Frienemies?
Back in Dodixie, i remembered that i have pretty good industry skills so i researched the market a bit (a bit too less but anyway) and bought a few "boosted" BPCs of some defensive rigs. As i didn't had the salvage material required, a guy in alliance offered discounted materials, if i go in Providence for them. In a heron i can't haul all the things back and forth so i decided to set up my rig empire in Providence.

Meanwhile the guy that killed me wanted a convo. "Let's give it a shot" i said. He said that he read my blog and he is also a Providence guy and wants to teach me about doing exploration.
The downtime was there and we couldn't continue but he mailed me some Astero fits (i said to him that i can't afford an Astero, of course i lied as i have more than 350mil left but i don't have nerves for another Astero lost at the momment). I wait him to be online so as we can talk widely, until then, fly safe!

Big quest for nothing V3.0

Last time i sold the BPCs and a few salvage that i got from Providence and Eterium Reach and then i bought an Astero.

No miracle last more than 3 days...
... because i must encounter Sabres. I think you got it: i've been podded by a Sabre. Long story short: again traveled more than 80 jumps for just a relic site, i got caught in a gate camp and now my Astero is star dust. I am sad now.

Looking forward...
... for a Heron! As an irony, i am way less podded when i fly a normal frigate so i said "Why not, Heron you are my choice!" and went back in nullsec. No risk, no ISK, right?

Mosaic - opinions

The next EVE's update, Mosaic deserves its name: it's mostly focused on skins that will be introduced. The most important changes, in my opinion, are those for ores and  SOV changes. The others are either purely aesthetic or minor changes. As i talked about ore and SOV changes here, i will be talking about what i think are the others important updates:

Opportunities
This feature is meant to help new players to handle the game more easily, and CCP reports that the players who tried Opportunities went more deep in New Eden than those who did just the tutorial.
Of course it's useful to have more tutorials about different aspects of the game but without getting any reward out of them is quite time consuming. For me, an older player, i think that they can help a new player that don't give a shit about making ISK and is a bit confused about how the game works but for a player that actually wants to make ISK by any reason, without rewards Opportunities is a drawback.

3D Star Map
The new map is almost ready and so far it looks pretty damn good. Well, except that it's functionality (in beta) is a bit... odd, especially when you want to probe something but i trust CCP will do a good job with new maps.

All updates can be found here

Thoughts about Drifters

Few hours ago, CCP released a video about Drifters in which they say that Drifters seems to live by artificial enhancements and also they seems to have some similarities with Jovians. Also in video is showing that the Drifter's corpse was found in a DED site, which made me think if this will be a new NPC faction. This could be a refreshing thing to PVE in EVE as it can lead to new combat, relic and data sites. Also it will probably reveal more about Jove Empire and the backstory of New Eden, a thing that i am very interested.
That's all for this post, remaining to be seen what CCP plans to do with this Drifters.

Big quest for nothing V2.0

I decided to do from "Big quest for nothing" a series as i will mainly do exploration so here is the part 2. Firs part can be found here.

After the hunt for an "Augmented" Ogre BPC, and after i saved my already found BPCs in Hek, i decided to do a last run in Eterium Reach, but in my way back to Hek, i found a WH to nullsec, that happened to be near my alliance's zone: Providence. "Good" i said and went to Provi.

Already got like 200mil in BPCs so some more money from relics won't hurt, i thought. Sadly in over 40 jumps i couldn't get more than 40mil from 5 sites. I decided to go to bring the BPCs left in Hek and haul all the stuff to Dodixie where i could escape of the Jita's chat but i could also get a preety good price.

82 jumps later i am in Dodixie, selling the salvage, checking prices of BPCs and then making a fair contract (in total 10bpcs at aprox. +20% more than other contracts = 220mil). Also i started 2 industry jobs (got the Yacht and Shuttle BPCs after i saw i had them on this account).

Later, after the Yacht was made, i could sell it at ~94mil, a nice ammount of free isk but it could be a lot better 1-2 weeks ago. After all this thing i have made a profit of ~350mil, 90 going in an Astero that i was aiming for some time. At the momment, my whealth is 465mil.

That's all for today, see you next time.

PS: Astero looks so sick!!!

It's a cold dark night in October

Within my very first steps in EVE I've been listening music in background, I've tried rap, rock, and many other genres (many OST from different games too) but the one has a special place in my heart:
Cargo Commander's OST - Down the Drain (actually i don't know how a single music can be named a "soundtrack" but whatever). I guarantee that in long runs (especially if you let him to infinitely replay in a music player) can be very enjoyable: that tired banjo, that tired voice speaking of a cold dark night in October, it's so relaxing, can't explain without thinking about a night of October trapped in deepest parts of space, while you think about your home, and the fact that you don't have one, it's so melancholic. If you want to listen some music while you play EVE, recommend this.

Why EVE is special?

I've got my first PC at age of 6. From then I've been playing quite a lot of games, mostly because i was just installing and uninstaling them without actually finish most of them. Why? I don't know, i love to read, but it's awful for me to play an RPG, or a game that actually has a story, simply i don't have the patience for it. I finished most of COD games, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and maybe another 2 or 3 smaller games, but no RPG finished yet. In 2011 i've found a MMO (Microvolts if you are curious) and there was the beginning of my online gamer path. I played it for a time, mainly because i could don't care about any story if i didn't want to, i was having fun. In the same year i started playing Team Fortress 2 and League of Legends.

Also, i hate MMORPGs, i don't like to spend 1 day just doing same thing over and over just for a level up, it's stupid. Then why i play EVE? Before i actually made an account and get into the game, i search a bit of informations/reviews, majority claiming EVE learning's curve is huge and that EVE is a complicated game overall. But then i found that you could do basically what you want (also some epic stories about thefts, huge battles etc. made me curious about the game). I said "fuck it" and made an account then plexed it with a friend's help.

I need to say that i never found EVE to be complex or confusing, many on internet claiming that the tutorial is a shit, i found it very helpful (not the exploration one thought). I quickly found that EVE is a game for actually smart peoples (don't get offended but that's it), not for raging kids that I've played in LoL, CSGO and other games (i know i was a kid too but i was not that type, i swear). That's what i enjoy most in EVE: the comunity, which i found to be one of the best in gaming industry, and the fact that you actually have to use that thing called brain if you want to play EVE. So that's why i think EVE is special, it makes you thing, it's harsh, and it doesn't give a fuck if you can't adapt. Here's one of my favourite quotes about EVE:

"Welcome to Eve Online. Here's a rubik's cube, go fuck yourself."

Big quest for nothing

My character, Lupan Anton, is skilled mainly on exploration so i though that the most lucrative method to make ISK at this moment. So far so good, i've activated my imicus, set up the waypoints, and undocked. Providence has prove that it's a good zone for exploration, when you find sites. i didn't. in more than 72 jumps, i only got a data site with crap loot (~1mil), this was my first part of big quest for nothing.

Later that day, decided that i can't go back to Dodixie (or Jita) with just 1 mil so i though about my forbidden love: Etherium Reach. I was there only 2 times in my entire career as an explorer, 1 time getting like 1bil from just 1 data site and the other time being killed in a gate camp. "it worth" i said and set up my route to deepest parts of Etherium Reach.

Etherium Reach, one of the most quiet systems in New Eden, mostly because DED sites are worse than those from other null sec regions. i don't know about combat sites, but data ones, when you can find them, can worth more than 1bil, being very easy to hack (although the cans don't explode when you fail to hack them, you have to bring some firepower as every time you fail to hack a site, some rogue drones will attack you).

The region was quiet as usually but the data sites refused to show, managing to find just 1 site in like 20 jumps (totally 92 jumps) but i barely got 12mil. Bigger luck next time i said and i took a break of another 4 hours.

Night time is time for most EVE players to show, but Etherium Reach remained quiet so i could search for big drops. Now bad things begin: i've found some sites, failed to hack one of cans, some drones started to fire me, i launched my drones but i forgot to target the enemy ones, so i got almost destroyed until i realised my mistake. Had to warp off (forgoting my drones of course), warp back and kill the drones, after hacks, the reward was a bit better but still low for how much i searched for it. Then the region begin to get flooded, i've wine in corp's chat and 2 guys wanted to help me (i thanks them very much) as i was almost dead, couldn't dock and with no drones (forgot again to bring drones after another site).

Finaly i could make it to hisec with help of a corp member, but the exploration was a fail, getting less than 200mil in more than 120 jumps.

TL;DR: 120 jumps for less than 200mil, forgot my drones in middle of nowhere, and almost died.

Old toon, old dirt

So i reactivated my old and main account, Lupan Anton, and i have to cleau up some assets, mainly spread ammong null and hi sec. The newer account i will still use for trading until it expires (don't think i can do a PLEX from 10mil as starting capital in 12 days) then i will move the assets to Anton. Main problem is to set back the industry jobs but i am very lazy so this may take a while.

Hope i will be accepted as a scout for our alliance's incursion fleet, as i don't have enough skills for t2 tank and guns nor capital for battleship and to be a scout would be a good initiate for incursions.

This month will be very busy for me, as i have some important exams at school, and i don't know how much time i will be able to spend on PC, though i'll try to update the blog as much as i can and for EVE i am looking in null sec exploration as a main income source.

LE: No incursion for me because my internet didn't work so i couldn't connect, better luck next time.

What's your plan CCP?

DISCLAIMER!: These are just my opinions and you can or can not agree with me.
Looking into newest devblogs, seems that CCP wants to boost null sec activities. How i come to this conclusion? Well let's see the facts:

- they will change the SOV system and it's most likely that the new one will favour more PVP which leads to more ships being destroyed and more materials are needed.
- the ore changes are boosting somehow null sec mining in addition with doubling of megacyte and zydrine quantities needed to build almost all items.

So more PVP  >  more ships needed  >  more resources needed which leads to a higher demand of minerals (mostly miners can profit from this aside from traders) and this leads to either a rise of industry items' cost or an increase in the number of miners from hisec to null sec.

if we look in the minerals' prices, just zydrine and megacyte are going up, all other sinking. i think that most players don't buy from market, probably because of the incertitude of what will happen, also they probably stack up waiting for prices to rise after the patch, though i think only megacyte and zydrine will be higher before this bubble (from Fanfest, the price for this two items is rising, but i doubt it will go higher after the patch).

Miners in null sec are probably the most affected from these changes as more activity will bring more loses to them or a lower of supply so if the number of null sec miners will stay flat, i expect the prices of rare ore (and minerals) to rise with 10 - 20% and with them, the most ships probably even if not so much, otherwise, if more people go to mine, the prices will stay more closer the the old ones.

Conclusions: CCP wants more PVP and a bit of inflation in EVE. What are your thoughts?

EVE, you are drunk

2 days ago EVE was drunk. Me and others couldn't search for other players, when we searched in "People&places" a character name (mostly our alts), the game told us that those characters don't exists. OK we said and we went back to our business.

Second bug was when i tried to jump to another system. All went fine until the gate warped me back in the system where i already was ( A > B, returned to A). Asked other guys if they ever got this bug, seems i was the only one.

The third and the last one was the most annoying. The launcher didn't want to show me the log in screen and sometimes it told me that i was not connected to internet (i was). Restarted it several times, same errors. Tried to "Repair" the launcher, but the repair process blocked. i finally succeeded to log in after i restarted the PC.

A short first post, more to come, until then, what bugs did you encountered in EVE?
